Rawohl Alexandra

Alexandra Rawohl studied singing at the Hochschule für Musik in Detmold with Thomas Quasthoff and Gerhild Romberger and at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music with Rowena Cowley. She gained further impetus through masterclasses with Margreet Honig and private studies with Verena Schweizer. She was awarded the first prize in the “Bundeswettbewerb Gesang” in Berlin.

A keen interest in baroque repertoire lead Alexandra Rawohl to a specialization in early music at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis with Ulrich Messthaler and Andreas Scholl and an intensive training in baroque gesture.

The repertoire of the mezzo- soprano includes works from renaissance to contemporary compositions.

As a soloist she has performed locally and abroad with conductors such as Andrea Marcon, Stefano Molardi, Rudolf Lutz, Martin Gester, Jean Tubéry and Paul Dyer.

Operatic performances of Alexandra Rawohl include the title role in Gluck's "Orfeo" at the Early Music-Festival in Lviv (Ukraine), the Sorceress in Purcell's "Dido and Aeneas" at the Haendelfestspiele Halle and Holofernes in “Juditha triumphans” by Vivaldi at the theatre Basel.
