Pavel Milyukov

Pavel Milyukov was born in Perm in 1984. At the age of four he started taking music lessons with Tatyana Shevtsova. In 2009 Pavel graduated from the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory (class of Vladimir Ivanov). In 2012 he obtained a postgraduate degree at the Moscow Conservatory (under the same teacher). Continued his studies at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien (class of Boris Kuschnir). He has twice received a grant from the St Petersburg Music House and Bank Rossiya (2008, 2009).

Prize-winner at the Kloster Schöntal International Violin Competition (Germany, 2003; 2nd prize), the Canetti International Violin Competition (Miskolc, Hungary, 2005; 1st prize), the Paganini Moscow International Violin Competition (2007; 2nd prize), the Vibrarte International Music Competition (Paris, 2008; 1st prize), the Moscow International David Oistrakh Violin Competition (2008; 2nd prize), the Astana Violin competition (Kazakhstan, 2008; Grand Prix), the All-Russian Music Competition (Moscow, 2010; 2nd prize), the Seoul International Music Competition (2012; 2nd prize) and the Aram Khachaturian International Competition (Yerevan, 2012; 1st prize). In 2015 he won 3rd prize at the XV International Tchaikovsky Competition (Moscow – St Petersburg).

Gave masterclasses in Russia and Brazil. Toured across Austria, Belgium, Brazil, China, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Portugal, South and North Korea, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland. Has made appearances at the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall, the Grand Hall of the Moscow Conservatory and the Concert Hall of the Mariinsky Theatre among other venues.

Has worked with such conductors as Valery Gergiev, Vladimir Spivakov, Mikhail Pletnev, Vladimir Fedoseyev, James Conlon, Vasily Petrenko, Yuri Simonov, Alexander Sladkovsky, Robert Canetti, Maxim Fedotov, Maria Eklund and Kristjan Järvi among others. Has performed with the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra, the Mariinsky Orchestra, the State Academic Symphony Orchestra of Russia (Svetlanov Symphony Orchestra), the Moscow State Symphony Orchestra under Pavel Kogan, the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, the Russian National Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Tatarstan National Symphony Orchestra, the Ural Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Swedish Wind Ensemble and the Baltic Sea Philharmonic.

Since 2007 he has been a participant in programmes of the St Petersburg Music House. Since 2012 he has been a soloist with the Moscow Philharmonic Society.

Assistant Professor at the Violin Division at the Moscow Conservatory (since 2016). Currently he also directs programmes in musical performing arts at the Sirius Educational Centre in Krasnodar Krai (Krasnodar Region).

In 2016 he was awarded the Order of Friendship.
