Sohn Noëmi
The soprano Noëmi Sohn was born in Basel, Switzerland. She attended her studies at the conservatory of Lucerne under Liliane Zürcher. In July 2008 she completed her studies with a master degree. From this point she continuously attended numerous master-classes under Margreet Honig, Klaus Mertens and Mariëtte Nollen. Currently she is continuing her training together with Sibylla Rubens. In her work Noëmi Sohn is focusing on the interplay between music, theatre and language.
As freelance concert singer she performs various genres from Baroque to Romantic up to contemporary music all with equal passion. In these activities she has been able to work with some renowned directors like Rudolf Lutz, Cristoforo Spagnuolo, Primin Lang, Andreas Felber and Martin Hobi. In addition Noëmi Sohn is also performing a series of concerts, together with her sister and pianist Rahel Sohn, under the name of “Giorgio”. In a scenic lieder recital they are performing songs of the well-known Swiss composer Paul Burkhard. With this program they were awarded the title of Pro Argovia Artist 2012-2013.
In 2010 she incorporated the leading role in Arthur Honegger’s “Les aventures du Roi Pausole” under the baton of Cristoforo Spagnuolo. Finally, since the year 2010, Noëmi Sohn is a member of the vocal ensemble “Schola Seconda Pratica” of the J.S. Bachfoundation St.Gallen directed by Rudolf Lutz. With her work she earns great reviews from the audience and critics alike. In May 2016 she has the honor to perform Johann Sebastian Bach’s BWV51 “Jauchzet Gott in allen Landen” solo cantata at the 26. International Bach festival in Schaffhausen.
